What Time Is It, Mr. Fox? at Old Sloop Presents – Miranda Aisling opens

What Time Is It, Mr. Fox? will return to Old Sloop Presents Friday, September 18, to open the 17th season for the popular performing arts series. Miranda Aisling will open the show.
Named after a Victorian children’s game, What Time Is It, Mr. Fox? is a five-person band from Gloucester that plays a genre blending combination of soul, folk, and cabaret. Their original songs marry rich lyrical imagery with a cinematic sensibility, exploring themes of love, spirituality, sexuality, and identity. The group’s performances range from intimate coffeehouses and living room concerts to music halls and theatrical productions accompanied by circus performers and animation. What Time Is It, Mr. Fox? performed at the first Old Sloop concert in 2009, and it is always a special occasion when they return.
Miranda Aisling began teaching herself guitar while not practicing piano when she was seven years old. Aisling’s original folk songs, now performed on both piano and guitar, combine a frank vulnerability with social commentary. A classically trained pianist who threw aside Bach for the Indigo Girls, Aisling brings the feeling of a folk festival with her approachable performances and stories both spoken and sung. She began writing songs at the age of thirteen under the influence of the Falcon Ridge Folk Festival, which she has attended most years since she was born.
