The worship service on March 15 was planned and led by the youth. The servic took place in Fellowship Hall because the thermostat in the sanctuary had been set incorrectly and the room was cold. As part of the service, the youh read the poem “You didn’t Notice Me Noticing” By Debbie Gline Allen.
You didn’t notice me noticing
That when you smiled and greeted me by name,
I learned that everyone is welcome in God’s house.
You didn’t notice me noticing
That when I saw you bring flowers, candles, bread, juice, and banners,
I learned a little more about God’s love for us through their symbols and simple beauty.
You didn’t notice me noticing
That when I saw how you sing your favorite hymns with enthusiasm,
I learned that praising God comes from the heart.
You didn’t notice me noticingThat when I watched you following along in your Bible with the scripture reading,
I wanted to learn to read so that I could know the stories of Jesus better.
You didn’t notice me noticing
When I watched you pray,
That I knew that there is a God I can always talk to and trust.
You didn’t notice me noticing
That when I saw you pass Jesus’ bread to each person,
I learned that we are all equal in Jesus’ eyes.
You didn’t notice me noticingThat when I saw tears come from your eyes during the sharing of joys and concerns,
I learned that sometimes things hurt, but it’s safe when we’re surrounded by God’s people.
You didn’t notice me noticing
That when I felt your arm around my shoulders as we sat together in the pew,
I sensed that God is everywhere.
You didn’t notice me noticing
That I learned from you most of what I need to know as my faith grows:
to love God and each other and how to worship together.
You didn’t notice me noticing
When I looked at you my eyes were saying:
Thanks for all the things I learned in worship when you didn’t notice me noticing.
